About DEB-YEP

The Digitization for Effectiveness in Business and Youth Employment project (DEB-YEP) is a one-year project supported by the World Bank’s Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) through the Federal Ministry of Education and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The project aims to train 500 underprivileged youths, including women and people with disabilities, in Kano and Katsina states in the specific skill sets required to develop startups and talent through digital transformation.

In addition to the provision of market-relevant digital skills training, the project blends training and incubation on the principle of study with the employment visa model, which will lead to the creation of at least 10 startups that provide innovative digital solutions to some specific trades that are frequently found in Northern Nigeria. It will also prepare about 50% of the beneficiaries to take remote jobs and serve international and local startup communities suffering from skills gaps due to the ongoing migration of talents.  DD Hub is partnering with Kirkira Hub as an implementing partner of the project in Katsina State.
